Originaly in November of 2007, I was going to a Ford Dealership to take part in a test drive event in which if you test drive any new Ford you would receive a gift card. I did the test drive in a new Fusion at the time. I was wanting to test drive a Mustang but feared if I had that the temptation would be too great and would wind up buying one. Then as we returned from the test drive with the Fusion, I saw this black gem sitting in the lot, and instantly knew what it was and what a rare find it was. I thought I'd see what kind of price it had and it was within my budget range. Did a test drive and instantly was in love. Went back home, cleaned up my present car then came back and filled out the paperwork and walked away with my 2003 Mustang Mach 1.
The car is mostly stock with only minor modifications, primarily slotted Brembo rotors in the front, and a K&N air filter.
The Mach 1 stands unique from both Cobras and GT Mustangs as a class of its own, inheriting both the styling and enhanced performance from its original heritage.
Unfortunately, April of 2013 my black Mach 1 would sadly be rear ended on the freeway ending its life. Alas I was fortunate enough to be able to find another Mach 1 with half the mileage of my old one and in just as good if not better shape.
After receiving the payout for my black Mach 1, I went looking for another Mach 1. I found this Torch Red Mach 1 with 56,000 miles on it. Quickly picked it up and continued maintaining the restoration the previous owner had kept up. The car is largely stock but had Flowmaster mufflers installed and a K&N air filter. Shortly after I installed sequential taillights and a custom "Mach 1" third brake light decal. The car has been a blast to drive and continues to offer surprises for its fun, reliability and prestige.
